Something appears to have gone seriously awry between Kre-O Perceptor’s intended alternate mode and its Toy Fair debut.
Also, hey, cameo by me as a Kreon.

Some people will be happy to learn that there’s going to be a Kre-O version of Transformers: Prime Arcee! They might be less happy to learn that it’s going to be a pack-in with a giant Autobot headquarters playset. This is a mock-up version of the planned Arcee Kreon that was shown at Toy Fair 2013, apparently made using stock Airachnid parts. Not sure I want to think about the implications of an Airachnid/Arcee fuzor (Aircee?), but I expect there will be fanart of the idea anyway.

CYBERVORE SHARK! This evil emissary of DR. TERROR has real snapping jaws plus 4 deadly barracuda missiles that shoot out of a specially designed launcher. And, it will be tough to stop these vicious attacks, because not only can CYBERVORE SHARK fight in water, but it has wheels for land battle and adjustable wing-fins for flying fish fights in the air. In addition, CYBERVORE SHARK has front and back halves that are interchangeable with the CYBERVORE PANTHER to create the ferocious tiger shark.

CYBERVORE PANTHER! Besides being able to interchange halves with the CYBERVORE SHARK to create the evil catfish, the CYBERVORE PANTHER also has real snapping attack jaws, and a specially designed, rapid fire, 4-disk launcher. CYBERVORE PANTHER’s tail, legs, and paws are articulated, and are powerful threats to the world as we know it.

These unproduced Centurions toys would have let us create SHARK-PANTHER HYBRIDS! Curse you, untimely toyline cancellation! CURSE YOOOOOU

Scans from the 1987 Kenner Toy Fair catalog, found here.

Parker Bros. ROM: Space Knight promotional video, first seen at Toy Fair ‘79.

The last scan I made from my collection of German Toy Fair catalogs showing Hasbro’s attempt to market Sindy, a pre-existing European doll property. Included here are beachwear for Sindy and her boyfriend Paul, a set of jewelry, and… a collection of lacy lingerie. That’s… uh, that’s kind of weird, Europe. On the other hand, “French knickers” is a pretty amusing term.

Sales pitch reel for Robotech II: The Sentinels, shown to buyers at Toy Fair 1987. Honestly, after seeing this, I’m not exactly surprised that Matchbox’s pre-sales for the Sentinels toyline were reportedly only a third of what they expected. Even excusing that this wasn’t the final dub used for the Sentinels, it takes a long time to build to any action - which, in of itself, mostly consists of the good guys getting their teeth kicked in.

Also, geez, what did they do to Lisa’s hair? It’s like a Two-Face made of her old hair and Charlie’s Angels-era Farrah Fawcett.

Here’s another “Sindy” scan from my collection of German Toy Fair catalogs, which features Sindy, her friend Imani, and Sindy’s “Ken” equivalent, Paul.
Spotlighted on this page is “Pop Star” Paul, which appears to depict him moments after a horrific accident in a glitter factory. Alternately, Paul and his friends all about to appear on EuroVision. Could go either way, really.

In the 1990s, Hasbro tried to challenge Barbie’s dominance of the European doll market by licensing and redesigning Sindy, a pre-existing doll property. It didn’t go very well for them, but some… interesting specimens of the line showed up in German Toy Fair catalogs I bought off eBay, and I felt compelled to share.
Here, for instance, is “Rasta-Hair Sindy” - Sindy with blond dreadlocks - wearing a sweater that would cause seizures if she were capable of locomotion.
